INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR AIR FRYER APPLE HAND PIES

The ingredient list for this recipe is only FOUR main ingredients and affordable.

Grab these ingredients to get started:

Pie Crust: I used refrigerated, premade crust for this recipe, but if you would like to use a homemade crust, feel free!

Apple Pie Filling: I used the canned filling for this recipe, but you can make your own here as well.

Egg and Milk– This egg wash mixture makes sure that the pie crust sticks together and your filling stays inside the crust.

Course Sugar: This ingredient is optional, but it really gives these hand pies a special texture and just bumps this recipe up a notch. Definitely recommend, but not required.

HOW TO PREPARE AIR FRYER APPLE HAND PIES

Unroll the crusts onto a lightly floured surface. Use a 2” round cookie cutter to cut out as many circles as you can— about 8.Fill the center of each circle with apple pie filling (about 1 tablespoon), making sure to leave a ¼” border around the edges.

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and milk to make the egg wash.

Brush the edges of the filled circle with the egg wash and place another dough round on top. Crimp the edges with a fork to seal the filling in and gently cut 2-3 holes in the middle of the pie, this will help release the air so the pie doesn’t explode! Brush the top of the pies with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar, if using.

Place the filled pies in the air fryer basket and at 375F until golden brown– about 5 minutes.

VARIATIONS

The great thing about this recipe is how versatile it is. You can change it up to fit your families taste/needs.

Make caramel apple hand pies by adding ⅓ cup caramel into the apple pie filling.

Make cinnamon apple hand pies by adding 1 teaspoon of cinnamon into the apple pie filling.

Mix up the toppings by drizzling the top of each pie with caramel sauce, dusting with powdered sugar, or whip up a basic glaze recipe to drizzle over top. You can also change out the filling with different flavors like blueberry or cherry!

CAN I BAKE HAND PIES IN THE OVEN?

Absolutely! You can bake these hand pies in a 400 degree/F oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

If you want to grab an air fryer, HERE is the one I use on a daily basis.. it is AH-MAZING! We use it daily. It is so much easier than turning on the oven and heating up the entire house. In most cases, it actually cooks faster than the traditional oven. It is also a lot healthier than deep frying, so there’s that..

If you love these Air Fryer Apple Hand Pies as much as I do, make sure you share it with your friends on Facebook and Pinterest so they can make it too!
