This Apple Turnovers recipe is a super simple and delicious dessert you can throw together in minutes! This recipe uses store-bought puff pastry to create the perfect pastry and save time!

Ingredients

  • 1 medium granny smith apple diced
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 package 2 sheets puff pastry

Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • ½ tablespoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the puff pastry box and prepare a baking sheet with non-stick spray and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, combined diced apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, and granulated sugar and stir to combine.
  • Heat over medium-high heat for 6-8 minutes or until the sugar is melted and the apples are softened (but not mushy). Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and cut into 4 equal square pieces Place about 1 tablespoon of apple filling in the center of each piece of puff pastry.
  • Dip a pastry brush into some water and run around the edges of the pastry. Fold the square over to form a triangle.
  • Use a fork to press slightly along the sides of the triangle to create a seal. Use a sharp knife to cut an “X” in the top of each turnover to create a vent. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Once the turnovers have cooled. Make the icing by combining all ingredients into a small bowl and whisking to combine until smooth. Use a spoon or condiment bottle to drizzle each turnover with icing.
